Community Safety Education CIC are delighted to partner with East Cheshire NHS Trust to deliver children’s book Leo The Lion to Macclesfield District General Hospital.
Leo The Lion was created by Emergency Department sister and training facilitator, Donna Rees, in response to restlessness and anxiety that she witnessed during peak periods in the paediatric ward. The book tells a relatable story of a not-so-brave Lion called Leo, who plucks up the courage to visit Macclesfield Hospital and follow his procedure. The book also has lots of activities to keep engagement and distractions high.
In order to provide the book to the hospital free of charge, we are relying on and looking for local Cheshire business sponsorships. Any businesses wanting to sponsor books will not only ease anxiety for children in the hospital, but they will have the option to put their logo on the back of the books.
We were given one of these at the weekend after my 2 year old got very upset having an X-ray. She then had to be sent for another one. After reading the page about Leo Lion having his X-ray she went in and had it done with no tears! Brilliant idea and really did help us ease her anxiety about it.
